The N.S.S Installation Ceremony was held on the 4th of July, 2018. The Chief Guest for the function was Rev. Fr. Zeferino D’ Souza, the President of the Diocesan Society of Education and the Administrator of St. Xavier’s College.


International Yoga Day was celebrated on the 21st of June, 2018, wherin  importance of pranayama and various asanas  like Trikonasana, Ardhakati Chakrasana, Vajrasana, Matsyendrasana, Bhujangasana and Shavasana was demonstrated. The students were instructed on their health benefits as well.


Vanamahotsava was held on 07th July 2018 as a joint effort by the National Service Scheme Unit and the Science Association. The day began with a meaningful assembly on the importance of Vanamahotsava and the need to plant as well as nurture plants.

Fruit – bearing saplings were planted in the campus, followed by an Inter-class ‘Nurturing a Plant’ Competition wherein 2 student representatives from the thirty classes of standard XI and XII participated in the same. Students were encouraged to grow and nurture ornamental plants along with maintaining a bi-weekly report of their growth for six months. The re-potting of various other plants was also undertaken to take care of the existing flora in the beautiful campus of St. Xavier’s H.S.S


Kopel & Fatti Making Competitions were organized on the 16th of July, 2018 which displayed the artistic skills and creativity of the participants.

On the 12th and 16th of August, 2018, 100 volunteers trekked the lush hills at Pal,  Sattari and Surla respectively.


The N.S.S Unit along with Goa Medical College, Bambolim organised a Blood Donation Camp on the 23rd of August, 2018, in the School Campus. Forty eight donors comprising of parents, teachers of H.S.S. and students of the College section donated blood.  Poster Competition on the theme, ‘Donate Blood, Save Life’ was conducted on the same day.

On the 24th of September, 2018, an Intra – Higher Secondary Street Play Competition on various cleanliness and social issues was organised as part of their N.S.S Day Celebrations.

All 30 classes of the Institution were divided into 10 groups. Each group of 8 to 15 participants were allotted 8 to 10 minutes of presentation.

The judges for the competition were Dr. Ramita Gurav, Mr. Shivaji Gaonkar and Mr. Pritesh Patil. The judging criteria were acting, relevance to the theme, clarity in speech, co-ordination and overall presentation.

Anti – Plastic Campaign

An Anti – Plastic Campaign was organized on the 1st of October, 2018 from the Municipal Office, which proceeded to St. Xavier’s College, Housing Board, Ganesh Mandir and concluded at Shree Ganesh Vidhya Mandir School, Mapusa. The students distributed paper and cloth bags to the people of Mapusa. 80 students participated in the rally. On the 2nd of October, 2018, the Anti Plastic Campaign continued in collaboration with the Mapusa Municipal Council, wherein 50 volunteers accompanied by 6 N.S.S officers distributed paper and cloth bags to the shopkeepers in the Mapusa market.
