St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa has been soaring and growing in its pursuit for excellence. The Institution marked the Inaugural of the New Academic Year 2019-20, the newly constructed Innovation Block and the felicitation of 344 meritorious students at the recently held March 2019 HSSCE Examination.
The Chief Guest, His Grace, Archbishop of Goa and Daman, Most Rev. Filipe Neri Ferrão graced the occasion as the main celebrant. The function began with the Eucharistic celebrations followed by lighting of the traditional lamp.
The Principal of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Dr. Elvis Gonsalves welcomed the gathering and apprised them about the excellent results at the March HSSC Examination 2019. He congratulated the parents, staff and students for securing an overall results of 99% with 344 Distinctions and proudly stated that three students of the Institution viz., Ms. Jemima Fernandes, Mr. Shamik Shetty and Ms. Mitchelle Mascarenhas were amongst the state rank holders in the Arts, Commerce and Vocational Streams respectively.
The Chief Guest, His Grace, in his address congratulated the meritorious students for their outstanding performance. He urged students to be compassionate and selfless in their service to humankind and emphasized the need to ‘Aim, Believe and Achieve’ to accomplish ones goals in life.
The Guest of Honour on the other hand called upon students to be good sentinels and safeguard oneself and the society from social vices. He emphasized on the need to be hardworking and law-abiding citizens of the nation.
The staff members Mrs. Marieta Gomes, Mrs.Cirila Fernandes and Mrs. Virginia Pereira who retired on superannuation were thanked and felicitated for their dedicated services towards the Institution. The day also saw the Institution praising the efforts and expressing their gratitude to all the benefactors, sponsors and well-wishers who contributed towards the Innovation Block.
