Indian Folk Dance Competition
The significance of co-curricular activities in the personality development of an individual cannot be overlooked. Co-Curricular activities reflect on the personality of an individual making them bold & confident to face the outside world.
Keeping this in mind the cultural committee organized and arranges programmes and events to ensure the all round development of our students so that they grow not just intellectually but also imbibe cultural values, boost their self morale, confidence & strengthen their potentials.
During the course of the year, the cultural committee organized several programmes to foster the growth of cultural knowledge, skills and exhibit talent across a variety of interest areas such as –
Arranging the cultural programmes for inaugural cum felicitation function, Independence Day, Republic Day Celebration, as well as Goa Liberation Day. Students are encouraged and trained to present patriotic songs, speeches , poems , compering etc.
For the annual day as well as to mark the Christmas celebration, a special Christmas programme is organized for the students, to keep the festive spirit glowing. During these occasions the stage is converted into a bee hive of activities portraying students skills through skits, music, dances, singing, and monologues.
The committee also took efforts to arrange for professional training programmes in voice skills.
The cultural committee is also involved in organizing several inter-class competitions to build team-spirit and participation. Following were some of the competitions organized, Solo & Group Singing competitions in different language categories, Folk Dances of India competition, Carol Singing, live- crib, Star Making, Rangoli, Card Making, Face Painting etc. A balance between academic content with richness of cultural & social values is thus developed in our students.
The Extra-Curricular and Literary Committee of our Institution organized various indoor and outdoor activities in the academic year 2017. The indoor activities organized from June 2017 were Spelling Bee Competition, General Knowledge Quiz Competition and Inter Stream Debate Competition. At the Essay Competition on the occasion of World Population Day organized by the Goa Science Centre and Planetarium our student Ms. Cherry Martins won the first place for the same. In the All Goa Inter Higher Secondary School Competition called “Mind Your English” organized by Our Lady of the Rosary Higher Secondary School, Donapaula our students Ms. Janine Rangel and Mr. Elton D’Souza secured the second place. Our students also participated at Melange ‘17 organized by Don Bosco Higher Secondary and MediaScope organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa and displayed great enthusiasm at the various events.
